Mauritania booked their place to the next round of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Sierra Leone in Nouakchott in the second leg tie of their preliminary round.
Two first half goals in just two minutes from Mohamed Yali and Boubacar Beyguili helped Mauritania to a 4-1 aggregate win over their Leone Stars home-based opponents.
The result means Sierra Leone are out of the tournament which is designed for locally based players, whilst Mauritania has earned a spot in the final round of the Zone West A qualifiers of the Championship which will be held from 16 January to 7 February in Rwanda next year.
Mauritania, hoping for a second appearance at the CHAN finals, will next face the winner of the Mali-Guinea Bissau fixture.
