Aftermath of Ghana Black Stars 1-0 away defeat to the Harambee Stars of Kenya, Coach Kwasi Appiah has insisted that his side will recover strongly in their next matches in the2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group F qualifiers.
The Ghanaian tactician and his Black Stars squad will have a double header against Leone Stars of Sierra Leone first in Ghana before heading to Freetown for the return leg.
Following the disappointing score line to Kenya, the Ghanaian coach has promised to do all it takes to consolidate their lead in Group F and finish as group winners in the race for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroun.
For Coach Appiah, they will come good and make amends in the remaining three matches.
“It is unfortunate that we did not get the results that we had planned and worked for. We had hoped for at least a draw and a point, but that did not happen.
“We are not desperate but we will recover and ensure that we maintain the lead till the end of the qualifying campaign,” he told the Graphic Sports.
“We can’t afford to waste the chances we create as we did against Kenya. They came with a strategy and it worked well for them. We should have taken the chances we created. We have identified the rough edges,” the Black Stars coach said, adding that they were still in the team building process.
The Black Stars will return to action in October against Sierra Leone who also lost to Ethiopia, leaving Group F with all four teams tied on points but goal difference separated them as the Black Stars stays at the top followed by Kenya, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.
