Coach Salisu Yusuf surrounded by CHAN Eagles players and officials
Head coach of Nigeria home-based squad, Salisu Yusuf is hopeful his Egales boys can perform the magic and defeat Sierra Leone in their play-off opener against Sierra Leone in the WAFU Cup.
Coach Yusuf and his boys will now face their West African opponent today September 11 after the clash was deferred from Saturday September 9 to allow the Nigerians players to involve in their final league matches in the Nigeria Football League (NFL).
Despite their late arrival in Ghana, Coach Yusuf is hopeful of victory and want to use the WAFU Cup to continue to build a team for next year’s CHAN tournament.
Asked if he is promising Nigerians anything at the WAFU Cup, the tactician said: “Yes, hopefully. Let us just qualify to the group stage first, we hope to defeat Sierra Leone and we will continue from there.”
