Sierra Leone striker, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura continued his goal scoring form on Monday, 10 August, helping AIK secure a 1-0 win over derby rival Djurgården in the Swedish Allsvenkan league.
The goal was Bangura’s seventh of the season in the league campaign and his ninth in all competitions.
After the match the striker said: “It was a very important victory for us. And now we have the top teams left at home.”
Elsewhere, Kei Kamara moved back at the top of the U.S Major League Soccer (MLS) golden boot standings last Saturday after scoring a brace to register another win for Columbus Crew.
The Crew secured a 2-1 win on the road over the Colorado Rapids and now sit third in the MLS Eastern Conference standings.
Bobby Burling scored his first goal of the season from a free kick delivery by Vincente Sanchez to give the home side the lead into the break, but after the recess the visitors came very hard to secure all three points.
But Sierra Leonean forward Kamara levelled the score in the 52nd minute to score his 16th goal of the campaign. The striker notched home his 17th goal of the season and the match winner of the day in the 64th minute.
Also in the MLS, midfielder Michael Lahoud made a comeback from a lengthy injury lay-off in Philadelphia Union’s goalless draw with Orlando City as he lasted for 79 minutes, whilst in the North America Soccer League (NASL), striker Shaka Bangura was introduced in 76 minute in his side Atlanta Silver Back’s 3-3 draw with San Antonio Scorpions.
Elsewhere, central defender Gibril Sankoh debuted for Roda JC in the Holland topflight league, the Eredivisie but lasted just 43 minute as he was stretched off with a shoulder injury after a tackle by Edwin Gyasi. However, Roda JC secured a 3-1 win over Heracles Almelo.
In Finland, Hassan Sesay helped Lahti secure a 1-2 away win over Rops, whilst Khelifa Jabbie was an unused sub in FC Sheriff 1-0 defeat to Speranţa Nisporeni.
