One remanded for forging GTBank payment slip

Principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, Dr. Abou Bhkarr Binneh Kamara, yesterday remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre one Ishmael Brima for allegedly forging the payment slip of the Guaranty Trust Bank -Sierra Leone Limited.

The accused was arraigned in court on two count charges of forging of document and uttering a forgery document, contrary to Section 6(1),(2) of the Forgery Act of 1913.

The prosecution alleges that the accused on Wednesday 4th January, 2017 at the Guaranty Trust Bank -Sierra Leone Limited branch at No.33 Kissy Road in  Freetown, with intent to defraud, forged a certain document to wit one Guaranty Trust Bank Sierra Leone Limited  slip dated 4th January, 2017 payable for the sum of three million Leones, purported to have been prepared and signed by one Agibu Bah.

On count two, the prosecution further alleges that the accused on Wednesday 4th January, 2017 at the same address uttered forged document to wit one Guaranty Trust Bank payment slip.

In another matter in the same court, Magistrate Kamara also remanded three accused persons at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre for conspiracy to wit store breaking and larceny.

The trio, Reginald Alusine Mathia, Ibrahim Massaquoi and Alia Koblo Queen Sankoh were arraigned in court on two count charges of store breaking and larceny, contrary to the Laceny Act of 1916.

The prosecution alleges that all accused persons, on certain dates unknown between 28 June and 24 November, 2016 in Freetown, conspired with other unknown persons to commit a felony to wit store breaking.

The prosecution further alleges that on the same date, the accused persons broke into and entered the store of Abdallah Basma with intent to steal and did Steal  therein 228 bags of costic soda to the value of forty one million and forty thousand Leones, (Le41,040,000), 176 packets of common salt valued three million eight hundred and seventy-two thousand Leones (Le3,872,000 and one hundred and nine loosed  salt valued four million, three hundred and sixty thousand Leones, all totaling to forty-nine million two hundred and seventy two thousand Leones.

Both matters were adjourned to the 20th January, 2017.
