Police testifies in child cruelty matter

Detective Police Constable, 10569 Alie Koroma, attached to the Family Support Unit Department, Kissy Police Post, yesterday testified against one Fatmata Sesay, who allegedly poured hot oil on the hands of her six years old daughter for Le90, 000.

In his testimony before Magistrate Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara of the Siaka Steven Magistrates’ Court No.1, DPC 10569 Koroma told the court that on 3rd October, 2016 at 10:30pm, one Kebbie of No.1 Guard Street Kissy, accompanied the victim to the police post and made a report.

He explained that on the same day, a photograph of the victim was taken by DPC 5459 Mansaray, while a medical report was issued her for treatment.

 The witness continues that he together with one DPC 7381 Kamara A. and a team of detectives arrested the accused and brought her to the post for interrogation, while they later charged the matter to court.

The accused is before the court on a count’s charge of child cruelty, contrary to law.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Sunday 25, September 2016 at No.1 Guard Street Kissy in  Freetown, cruelly poured  hot oil on the hand of the  victim for Le90 000.

The matter continues.
