The Minister of Labour and Social Security,Martin Teambo,  has yesterday  told hundreds of sierra Leonean youth that government has lifted a temporal ban on migrant workers  employed in Asia.

While addressing a gathering at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building in Freetown, Minister Teambo told migrant workers that the lift only covers those workers who were serving in Asia and whose contracts were still up-to-date.

He said Sierra Leoneans would no longer risk or die while crossing the desert or Meditarian sea to seek greener pastures, but would gladly take flight to their respective destinations as workers.

Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Bangura, thanked all migrant workers for holding on to the forth during that very moment and for being resilient.

Mohamed Bangura said the challenges were great but that there would soon be smiles on the faces of those migrant workers.

He admonished the employers to be very genuine in recruiting the youth, noting that the recruitment covers every political party, region and sex.

The Deputy Manager of Human Power Global Sierra Leone/Overseas Employment Investment Agency, Emmanuel M. Pratt, expressed his gratitude for the lift , stating that his agency has recruited and sent over 1,700 Sierra Leonean youth, who have gone and returned to the country with no death or violation of the workers human rights

Abdul Karim Bangura, an applicant admonished his colleagues to be very responsible as they travel out of the country to seek employment.
