Presiding Magistrate at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1, Dr.Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara, yesterday sentenced one Amara Sheriff to two years imprisonment or an alternative fine of Le2.2 million to the State, plus Le4 million compensation to the complainant.
The convict was standing trial on a count charge of larceny, contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The prosecution had alleged that the accused on Monday, 20th June, 2016 at Regent Road in central Freetown, stole one black bag valued Le40,000, which also contained the sum of Le2 million plus a mobile phone. The total value of stolen goods belonging to one Musa Conteh was estimated at Le2.7 million by the police.
