Presiding Magistrate at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, Mr. Albert J. Moody, yesterday remanded one Isha Barrie, a female Prison Officer, at the Female Correctional Centre on Jomo Kenyatta Road in Freetown for the offence of domestic violence.

The accused has to answer to four count charges of domestic violence and physical abuse, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone, as the prosecution alleges that on 27th August, 2016 in Freetown, she physically abused one Hajaratu Conteh.

In her testimony, Conteh told the court that she knew the accused as a co-tenant and recalled the day of the incident on 27th August, 2016.

She told the court that the accused ‘arrogantly’ interfered into their discussion and used abusive language on her.

She alleged that the accused stabbed her on the head and further inflicted several bite wounds on her, adding that she reported the matter to the Central Police Division, where she was given a medical report, while the police later obtained statement from her.

The matter continues.
