Inspector Moses Moore yesterday led the last prosecution witness in the preliminary investigation into the murder trial of one Patrick Bangura, whose corpse was discovered in a pit latrine at his family residence in Tengbeh Town, west Freetown, June this year.
Four witnesses, including the investigator, scene of crime officer, pathologist and the exhibit clerk have already testified in the matter.
Exhibit Clerk attached to the Congo Cross Police Station, Detective 9456 Conteh M.O.B., said while on duty on 26 June, Detective Sergeant 7988 Bomba A. gave him five empty rice bags with suspected blood stains, an empty rubber with blue cover and a mayonnaise bottle with white substance, suspected to be chlorine.
The said exhibits were tendered and form part of the court’s records.
While being cross-examined by defense lawyer Musa Pious Harmor Sesay, the detective declined having scientific knowledge to ascertain whether the stains were blood and the white powder chlorine.
Government pathologist Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma had earlier told the lower court that Bangura’s death was caused by spinal cord injury and fractured vertebrate.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Sesay is set to address the court on a ‘no case’ submission during the next adjourned date, 15 August.
Demoh Bangura, Sholay Val-Renner and David Sesay are before Magistrate Harding, presiding at the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.2, on two counts of conspiracy to murder and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to police, the trio allegedly murdered Patrick Bangura on Monday, 14 April, 2016 at No.7 Upper Tengbeh Town, west of Freetown.
