Columbus Crew SC striker Kei Kamara is hoping victory over New York City FC on Saturday at their MAPFRE Stadium can turn their Major League Soccer season around.
Kamara, 31, is not carried away, but aware of the impact of the victory over NYCFC, having scored one of the goals for the Black and Gold as they registered their first win of the 2016 campaign.
“It was great to get the first win; it has been a tough start for us. Hopefully, this is our refresh button.” Kei told www.footballsierraleone.net
“It was a great goal, also. Fantastic finish from Kei. The goalie could do very little about it. And it is a good feeling. You want your striker scoring goals, that’s how strikers get confidence.
“I think it wasn’t only about the goal today. He worked extremely hard, especially in the end when we were down to 10 men. And I think he had a very good performance,” Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter was quoted as saying.
Their 3-2 win was Crew’s first after losing three of their first five Major League Soccer matches this season.
They host Houston Dynamo on Sunday, looking to rebuild from the NYC FC victory, before going away to Seattle Sounders on 30 April for a tough away contest.
