Government pathologist Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma Wednesday told the court that alleged murder victim Issa Wuraray had by massive hemorrhage and extensive fracture of the skull on the temple.
Prosecutors say he was murdered by one Abu Bakarr Sangarce at Juba Hill.
Testifying before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.5, Dr. Koroma stated that he carried out a postmortem examination on the deceased on 4 January, 2016 at the Connaught Hospital Mortuary, following instructions from the Chief Medical Officer and request of the coroner.
He said the body was identified to him by one Amadu Koroma of Kaningo, Juba Hill; investigation officer, Detective Police Constable 10941 Kamara M.M. and scene of crime officer 4112 Timbo B., both attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at the Lumley Police Station.
Dr Koroma stated that after the conclusion of the postmortem examination, he reduced his findings to an autopsy report, which had been in his custody.
The autopsy report was tendered as exhibit B1-5 to form part of court records.
He said a medical certificate of the cause of death was issued to Amadu Koroma, a neighbour of the deceased, to enable proper burial, while a photocopy was handed over to the Sierra Leone Police.
Dr. Koroma stated that the deceased died of massive hemorrhage and extensive fracture of the skull on the last temple as a result of a fall from a high place to the ground.
He added that the deceased also suffered dislocation of the cervical vertebrate and spinal cord injury.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Wednesday, 23 December, 2015 murdered the deceased at Kaningo, Juba Hill in Freetown.
