Liberia Nimba FC and Sierra Leonean trio, Foday Suma, Amadu Barrie and Lamin Janneh, are in positive mind frame ahead of their return leg tie against Union Sportive de Douala of Cameroun in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The trio were part of the Nimba FC squad who suffered a 3-1 defeat at home in Liberia against their Central African opponent, but the Sierra Leoneans are hopeful of positive result in Sunday’s encounter.
Acknowledging the task ahead to qualify for the next stage of the tournament, midfielder Foday Suma said: “A tough match awaits us away from home, with the first leg result it is always going to be difficult, but this is football, we are still in it and hopefully we can turn it around.”
Amadu Barrie also shared similar sentiment, adding that: “It’s going to be very hard but it’s a great opportunity for us to prove our mental strength.”
Defender Lamin Janneh, who reflected on the first leg, believed the consolation goal could help them get something positive out of Sunday’s match.
The Liberian side can book their place to the next round if they can secure a two goal lead over their Cameroonian opponent, but anything less than that -score draw, a goalless or a one nil win – would send them packing.
