The former AIK and Bursaspor forward was spotted with the Swedish second tier league side on Thursday and he is expected to be featured by the club this Saturday in a friendly match at home against Västerås SK.
According to the club’s Sport director, Adil Kizil, they are in search of a sharp striker and with information about Bangura’s availability, they rushed at the chance to offering him a try out
He said: “When we heard he was available, we thought it was a good feat to invite him. We mainly want to see him and what shape he is in.”
Bangura has endured a troubled time with knee injury, but at the end of last season he had few good days with Mjallby in the Swedish first division and scored two goals in six matches.
However, Kizil hopes to get a positive response while the former FC Kallon striker trains with the club.
He said: “He still has a nice résumé, but have had it tougher in recent years. I think his agent want to find the right place for him because he will be able to flourish again. I think we might be the place.”
Bangura himself appreciates his time with the club, stating “My agent (Patrick Mork) has talked a lot about Dalkurd and explained the ambitions of the club. It’s fun to be here.”
The striker is also looking forward to be in the right frame of mind and shape: “I am certainly not in as good shape as the other guys in the team. It is probably still okay, I’ve been training with the Sierra Leone national team and my old club during the winter and hope to be sharper than this.”
Teteh Bangura had his first spell in Sweden with IFK Koping during the 2010 season. The following year, he signed for AIK, where he became a huge success scoring 15 goals in 17 games.
He later moved to Turkish Superlig side Bursaspor, with his first season in Turkey positive, scoring six goals in 24 matches. But things went the other way for him during the 2012/2013 season.
He was later loaned to Şanlıurfaspor and Israeli side Beitar Jerusalem before he returned to AIK on loan in 2014. A year later, he appeared in Sweden again with Mjällby, where he scored two goals in six matches.
