Stadium Stars female cricket team will start their title defence with a clash against the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) national T20 female league on Saturday February 6 at the Kingtom Ovals in the west-end of Freetown.
The reigning champions’ clash with the SLP will come up in the morning hours as the first match of the day, and in the afternoon, the Stars will again engage Mid-West club at the same venue.
The tournament will continue the following day with a clash of the forces, as the SLP tackles their fierce rivals, the Sierra Leone Prisons.
Four teams – Stadium Stars, Sierra Leone Prisons, Mid-West and Sierra Leone Police – will challenge for this year’s T20 league crown, and according to the SLCA Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Samura, they are on course for the tournament to kick-off on the scheduled date.
He said he is very optimistic that this year’s tournament, like previous ones, will produce new talents.
He said: “Everything is already in place; we are only waiting for the time to get the players on the pitch. Let them prove their worth, especially the ones who represented the country in the recent international tournament in The Gambia.”
The four-team tournament will run from February 6-21 and will be played on a round-robin basis, where all the teams are expected to face each other.
