The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has in a press statement reminded the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) secretariat of their elective congress among several other related obligations.

The SLFA press release issued on January 14 stated that the tenure of the current WAFA executive has expired since December 2015, and that they are yet to be informed by WAFA of any plans for the next elective congress.

Another call made by the SLFA secretariat is for the WAFA office to forward copies of their financial activity report and minutes of their annual congress held in 2011.

The release reads: “The tenure of the current WAFA executive had expired since December 2015 and SLFA has not been informed of any plans to convene an elective congress to elect WAFA officials that will manage the affairs of the association for the next four years.

“The SLFA [sees] this as a profane development and bad precedent set in football governance at regional level.”

However, WAFA acting secretary general, Kasho J. Holland-Cole, has reacted angrily to the release which he said was a clear demonstration that both the SLFA general secretary, Chris Kamara and the president, Isha Johansen are “ill-minded”.

He said: “This is a clear demonstration that both Chris Kamara and his boss are mad. How can you write a letter to the acting general secretary of WAFA after you have banned him from all football activities for life?

“Also, I see it very funny for Chris [Kamara] to copy the vice chairman of WAFA; so they now know that we have a vice chairman? But when they wanted to fill in their self-created vacancy they went outside WAFA and hand-picked somebody else.”
