Sierra Leone Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (SLEITI, in collaboration with the Revenue Development Foundation (RDF), last Friday educated the media on the use of online repository.
The training was aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s resources.
National Coordinator of SLEITI, Mina Horrace, educated participants on the establishment, composition, mandates, activities and successes of EITI.
She also informed the media on the current status of EITI and the status of the 2012 report which she said would be out by February 2016.
She said the report was supposed to be out in 2014 but that due to the Ebola outbreak they were given an open-ended timeline to present the report.
SLEITI Communication Officer, Mohamed Fernando Conteh, educated participants on their communication needs and strategies.
Lead trainer, Theophilous Gbenda, educated participants on how to navigate the repository, while participants were given the opportunity to ask questions.
