3 remanded for Le.25M heist

Lamin Jalloh, Abubakarr Jalloh and Alfred Cole were yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road after an Le25 million heist at an insurance comapany.

The trio are being tried at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda. They were charged with conspiracy and office breaking contrary to section 26(1) of the 1916 Larceny Act of 1916 which says that anyone who breaks and enters into a dwelling house or public building commits a felony, for which on conviction he could serve a jail term not exceeding fourteen years.

Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Kamara told the court that on 23 July, 2015 at Pademba Road in Freetown, the accused persons conspired with some unknown persons to break and gain entrance into an insurance company and the office of one Kwame Eku Kumson and stole two HP computer laptops valued nine million Leones, one Samsung camera and cash of Le3.5 million; with the entire value of the heist being Le25million.

Defence counsel A.K. Kargbo applied for bail on behalf of the trio but the magistrate refused to grant the men bail.
