General Overseer of theLiving Word of Faith Outreach Ministries International, Akintayo Sam-Jolly was Sunday (29 November) consecrated Bishop at the church’s headquarters on Victoria Street in Freetown.

Taking the Episcopal oath in the presence of the College of Bishops and other bishops from across the world, Bishop Sam-Jolly said: “I believe that God has a purpose to call me to the office of Bishop. I have accepted his call to fulfill that trust in obedience to Jesus Christ.”

He assured the mammoth congregation that he would remain faithful in prayer and in studying the Holy Scriptures in order to have the mind of Jesus Christ.

He continued that he would boldly proclaim and interpret the Gospel of Christ in a bid to enlighten minds and stir up the consciences of his followers.

“As Chief Priest and Pastor, I will encourage and support all baptised people in their gifts and ministries, nourish them from the riches of God’s Grace, pray for them without ceasing and celebrating with them the ordinances of their redemption,” he assured.

Bishop Sam-Jolly further assured that he would sustain his fellow presbyters and take counsel from them, as well as guiding and strengthening the deacons and all others who minister in his church.

The newly consecrated bishop promised to be merciful to all, show compassion to the poor and strangers and defend those who have no helper.

Bishop Abu Koroma of the Flaming Evangelical Ministries International described the occasion as a celebration of a man that God had taken from nowhere to somewhere.

“My brother I want to tell you that God chose you because He loves you and not because of your talents or background but because His grace in on you. Be connected and humble and do not mess around like other men of God,” he advised.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Ebola Response Center, Rtd. Major Palo Conteh congratulated the new Bishop and commended the contribution of religious leaders in the fight to end the deadly Ebola virus disease.

Bishop Atinkola Sam-Jolly is a founding member of the Living World of Faith Bible Church Freetown which was established in 1988. He became pastor of the church in 1991, and in 1993 went on to relaunch the ministry as the Living World of Faith Outreach Ministries International as General Overseer.

He is the General Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone and an accomplished song writer with two albums to his name. He has also authored three books and is married to Reverend Veralina Sam-Jolly, Co-General Overseer of the Ministry. They are blessed with six children.
