Sierra Leonean-born sprinter, Solomon Bockarie, will this weekend make his debut for the Dutch national athletics team at the European Championship in Greece.
The 28-year-old who recently acquired Dutch citizenship was invited to the country’s team by Technical Director Ad Roskamp following the injury of Giovanni Codrington. His inclusion means he will reinforce the 4×100 meters relay team.
Bockarie, who represented Sierra Leone in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland, will now run in the all-orange colour after the Dutch federation contacted both the world athletics federation IAAF and the Sierra Leone Athletics Association through the National Olympic Committee over the youngster.
He put up an outstanding performance last weekend securing the sprint distances of personal records 10.32sec in the 100m and 20.94 sec in the 200m.
