Albert Academy launches 115th Anniversary Logo

Ahead of its 115th celebrations, Albert Academy has on Friday, 6th September officially launched the anniversary logo at the school’s library, Berry Street in Freetown

Speaking to the membership of the Old Boys Association and journalists, President of the association, Justice Abu King charged that poor administration is the major factor responsible for the current performance of the school.

He pointed out that one of the measures they have put in place as an alumni association was to send the current principal of the senior secondary school on indefinite suspension and advertised his position.

He further said that they have set up a committee that will look into the condition of service for the new principal, and as well look into the new intake for the academy year.

“The Albert Academy is preparing for a single shift in the 2020/2021 academy year,” he said, thus calling on all academicians to join the administration towards the development and progress of the school.

Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 115th anniversary celebrations, Albert Massaquoi, said the committee has set out a proposed plan for the upcoming event.

He said on 21st September, there would be a Family March from the Freetown Amusement Park to Aberdeen Beach, while they will be having a fun day at the Freetown Amusement Park on 15th September.

He called on all academicians to attend the Albert Academy Old Boys Annual General Meeting on 5th October at the school’s compound.

Massaquoi said on Sunday, 6th October, the Albert Academy will be having their annual thanksgiving at the King Memorial Methodist Church.

He concluded that all proceeds from the sale of celebration materials would be used for the transformation of the school from two-shift to single-shift system, couple with the refurbishment of the boarding home.

The Deputy Minister of Justice,Umaru  Napoleon Koroma, who is also a former  student of the Albert Academy said there was more the school needed to do for it to be rebranded to it past glory.
