Momoh is before Magistrate Abdul Sheriff on one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(1)(ii)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent,Andrew J. Cookson alleges that the accused on Monday, 26th April, 2019, at Regent Lorry Park, Regent Village in Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use one TVS motor bike with registration number ANM 609 valued 7,600,000 Leones, which was entrusted to him by Hassan M. He claimed that the accused went home and asked that they lend him the said bike.
He said his brother left for a football match but later agreed to give him the bike.
He said the accused promised to return the bike 11pm that same day.
He told the court that when his brother returned home, he asked him for the bike and he responded that the accused has gone out with it.
He said they later decided to go in search of the accused after the agreed time elapsed, but didn’t set eyes on him.
The witness said earlier this month (July) they heard that the accused was in Port Loko which forced them to go out and arrested him and took him to the Harbor Police Station, Regent village.
Meanwhile, the accused was not represented and Magistrate Sheriff remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to Tuesday 23rd July.
