As a way of helping his community, the All People’s Congress Party (APC) strong man, Dauda Blaq Lugbu Kamara, who contested for symbol in Constituency 123, in the 2018 Elections has on Saturday 27th, April 27th, donated and commissioned two 5,000(five thousand Litres) Milla tanks  worth over Le 10million Leones to the Manfred Lane community.

He also provided security light system to the community.

He reflected that during the past elections, he vied for the APC symbol, but didn’t succeed because he holds a dual nationality, as the law forbids dual nationals from vying for legislative positions in Sierra Leone.

“But regardless of that situation, I know that our community lacks  so many things. I believe that if God has helped me overseas, I need to take care of my people in my community. I have been doing these for years even before I travelled to the United States. So, I deemed it that water is number one problem here and I have promised my community that with , or without me being an MP by the grace of God, I will make sure that I solve that problem,”he said.

He added that he would continue his development drive in other communities, stating that he has done a lot in terms of sport, awarding scholarships to children among other projects in his constituency and its environs.

He encouraged his constituents to take good care of the tanks as it is their property, adding that as part of a sustainable drive each person was required to pay a sum of Le 250 per jerry can.

Abu Bakarr  Kamara, Councillor for ward 425 , Constituency 122, Mount Aureol and the Ginger Hall Community, said  he wasn’t surprised with the kindness of the former Parliamentary symbol aspirant, stating that  his job was to complement the great things he has done for the Ginger Hall Community and its environs.

“We know that he has come to complement our effort. Some of these things, I believe, are part of our corporate social responsibility that we should do especially when we are responsible for development. But if you see someone like Dauda Blaq, I believe that it is about moving forward the agenda of the All Peoples Congress towards the grassroots,’’ he said, adding that he was very happy for him as he is real APC comrade.

He added that the former parliamentary symbol aspirant in the 2018 elections didn’t just donate the tanks, but met his people and held a meeting where it was discussed that water scarcity was major challenge in the community.

Mohamed Turay , one of the Community stakeholders in the Manfred Lane community ,commended Dauda Blaq  for his effort and added that even before  Blaq left the shores of the country for the United States of America, he has been helping his constituents, thus stating that whilst he was working at Masada he made sure the community was clean.

Thaimu Kamara, Chairman Manfred Lane Youth Organisation, said the donation by Dauda Blaq was the kind of love he has for his community.

He stated that development is a collective effort from them as ordinary citizens, and even to the politicians.

“What he has done is a footprint that will urge others to do same because government alone cannot undertake all the development in the country. We need the private sector as well,’’ he said.
