Unisa Dumbuya, 34, was Thursday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after his arraignment for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old girl on April 6th 2018.
The accused was before Justice Momoh Jah Stevens, charged with penetrating a minor, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012.
In her testimony, the victim’s mother told the court that on the day of the incident, she was at her business place when her husband called and asked her to look out for their daughter.
She explained that when she arrived home her sister-in-law advised her to take her daughter to the police station, adding that the advice left her confused.
She told the court that she later saw blood oozing from the genital of her daughter, which she said prompted her to ask questions, but the victim didn’t explain at that moment.
The witness said she later went to the Harbour Police Station, where she made a statement to the police, who issued them a medical request form.
She said that upon examining the girl, the medical doctor said she needed blood transfusion.
She further testified that they spent six days in the hospital, and that she returned to Harbour Police Station to return the endorsed medical report form.
Defense counsel Hadiru Dabor applied for bail, but the State Prosecutor objected to it.
Meanwhile, the accused was remanded in custody, while the matter was adjourned to 13th December.
