Pastor remanded for rape

Forty-six year- old Alfred Alieu Badarr Kamara- pastor attached to the New Era of Harvest Ministry International at Brookfield’s in Freetown was yesterday remanded at the Maximum Security Centre by Magistrate Abdul Sheriff presiding at Court No.7 for allegedly raping a 24-year old girl contrary to Section 6 of the Sexual Offense Act No. 12 of 2012.

The accused person on Friday September 1st 2017 to Saturday 31st March 2018 at No. 21 Carlton Carew Road off Wilkinson Road Freetown allegedly had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent.

In her testimony, the victim recognised the accused as her neighbour and recalled that on the date in question while she was at the living room watching Tv, the accused bumped in and asked her for sex but she refused.

“The accused put his finger inside my vagina, removed my dress and had sex with me in the chair. After the forceful intercourse, I felt severe pain and blood was oozing from my vagina and I went to the bath room and washed myself,” she told the court.

The victim narrated that when her Aunt noticed that she was pregnant and questioned her about it; she told her that it was the accused that impregnated her.

The victim also told the court that her aunt reported the matter at the Congo Cross Police Station where she was issued with a medical request form which they took to the Rainbow Centre at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital.

She told the court that the medical request form was later returned to the police and they later made statement.

Meanwhile, J.M Jengo associated with the prosecution whilst the accused was unrepresented. The matter was however adjourned to Friday, 21st June for the second prosecution witness to testify.
