Newly appointed Sierra Leone Sports Minister, Ibrahim Nyellenkeh, has asserted that ‘Paopa’ football in the country should resume and that sports will definitely make an immense improvement under his administration.
Nyellenkeh, who faced the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on appointment last Tuesday, said upon assuming office, he will prioritise football and athletics in the country, while giving attention to the other sporting disciplines.
“Athletics and football are my top most priorities but will be dealing with 25 or so sporting disciplines and as a government, we are ready to inject heavy money into football and sports. Football will play in every area in this country under or reign and we will assure all that we will continue to engage the sports stakeholders for betterment of sports in the country,” the newly appointed sports minister said.
Minister Nyellenkeh further revealed that as a servant of the people all difference in sports should be shelve and people should start thinking about Sierra Leone above all other needs.
He said: “We need to give the people what they want and whatever difference you hold against each other should end now and let look at the bigger picture which is Sierra Leone. We must put our country first above all others.”
