Accused remanded for carrying offensive weapon

Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Padamba Road Magistrates’ court No 1 has remanded one Magrius Paul at the Male Correctional Centre for allegedly being found in possession of offensive weapon.

The accused was arraigned on one court charge of being in possession of an offensive weapon contrary to section 16(1) of the Public Order Act No 46 of 1965.

Police Prosecutor Eric A. Deen had alleged that on Sunday, 29 October, 2017 at Cassava Farm, Leicester Village in Freetown, the convict was found in possession of offensive weapon – an old kitchen knife with a brown handle.

No plea was taken by the accused person and the matter was adjourned to 9 November.

In another matter in the same court, Magistrate Bangura also remanded one Osman Turay at the Male Correctional Centre for shop breaking.

The accused is standing trial on one count of shop breaking and larceny contrary to section 20(10) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Police Prosecutor Deen narrated that on Friday, 27 October, 2017 at the New England Ville motorbike park, the accused broke and entered into the shop of one Isata Sesay with intent to steal and carted away one carton 3X energy drink valued Le100,000 and other items valued Le232,000, totaling Le332, 000, property of Isata Sesay.

No plea was taken by the accused and the matter was adjourned to 7 November, 2017.
