Newly constituted ‘Friends of Chericoco’ United Kingdom group in a single day raised over £8,000 as part of their support towards the political campaign of the All Peoples Congress (APC) running mate, Hon. Chernor Maju Bah a.k.a. Chericoco.

In a well-attended meeting at South East London, the interactive and brainstorming meeting, which commenced with a brief background of Hon. Bah, saw members overwhelmingly contribute over £8,000 as a kick-start of their fundraising to support the friend, ahead of his vice presidential run in the 2018 presidential election.

According to Malcolm Conteh, Chairman ‘Friends of Chericco’ in the United Kingdom, the aims and objectives of the group is to render their fullest support to Hon. Chericoco whom they consider as a brother, friend and inspirational individual.

He said: “The individual has one way or the other touched people’s lives directly or indirectly. He has been very much supportive to youth, children, Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad and these are some of the reasons we decided to come together as brothers and sisters to see how best we, in turn, can help in our own way devoid of our political background. The bigger picture is Hon. Chericoco who continues to be an enviable figure to all Sierra Leoneans.”

Conteh noted that the move was the very first time such a sum was being raised by a Sierra Leonean group in just a single day in a fund-raising drive, adding that they would give their support in diverse ways which could be revealed later.

Another member at the meeting, Marie Conteh a.k.a. MC, was so pleased with the turnout that she pledged her total support not only to the group but also to ensure that the Hon. Bah succeeds in his mission come 2018.

“I am so happy to be part of this because of the role Hon. Chericoco has played towards national and individual development for Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans. I will give my fullest support towards this goal,” Marie Conteh said.

There was further internal discussion amongst the group while they climaxed the meeting with singing the country’s national anthem.
