Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Padamba Road Magistrates’ Court No 1 has yesterday sentenced one Mohamed Turay to thirty-six month imprisonment for fraudulent conversion.
Turay was arraigned in court on one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20(1) IV (a) of the larceny Act 1916.
Police prosecutor, T.M.Bangura, claimed that the accused sometimes in 2015, at Spur-loop inn Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit, certain property -one T.V.S Star L.X Motor Bike with registration Number A.L.E 461 Valued three Million Five Hundred thousand Leones (3,500,00), entrusted to him by Mohamed Marsh Kamara to be used for commercial purpose.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura, in his ruling, said he has looked at the evidence of the prosecutor, and that he has come to the conclusion that the accused intended to defraud the complainant and he did.
“I therefore find him guilty as charged and being a convicted criminal, he is therefore not to be speared,” he said.
“I therefore sentence him to thirty-six (36) month imprisonment.”.
