One Dauda Sesay, ex-military personnel, yesterday made his first appearance before Justice John Bosco Alieu at the High Court of Sierra Leone on one count charge of murder contrary to laws of Sierra Leone.
Dauda claimed that his mother was responsible for his dismissal from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, (RSLAF).
According to the State prosecutor, Lawyer S.Bah, the accused, on the 11th February, 2016, at Grafton community, outside Freetown, allegedly stabbed his mother to death, adding that the accused rushed at his mother, held her mouth with one of his hands and repeatedly stabbed her with a baronet.
Prosecutor Bah further noted that she has got enough evidence to prove that Dauda was responsible for the death of his own biological mother.
Chairman of the Grafton Community, who is also one of the witnesses, Timothy Mustapha Swarray, explained that he was informed about the incident by members of the community and that he swiftly moved to the scene where he discovered that the deceased, madam Yeali Sesay, had on her body several knife wounds.
“At the police station, the accused told me that when he had an issue with the military, his mother had gone there and told the military that there is something wrong with him,” he explained.
“On several occasions, this man has threatened to kill people within my community. In 2012, we asked him out of the community but he returned after four years and unfortunately stabbed his mother,” he concluded.
The matter was adjourned to 23rd October 2017.
