One Dauda Sesay, who allegedly stabbed his mother with a baronet to death, was on 3rd October, 2017 sent on remand at the Male Correctional centre on Pademba Road on his maiden appearance in the High Court before Justice John Bosco Allieu.

The first prosecution witness, Timothy Swarray, who was led in evidence by A. T. Rogers, identified himself as chairman of the Catholic Relief Service in the Grafton community, and that he was the first to be called upon when the incident took place.

“When I asked the accused if he was the one that killed his mother, he answered in the affirmative but never told me as to what prompted his action”, he said.

Swarray testified that he immediately called the police while the accused was arrested and taken to the Grafton police station.

He explained that the accused underestimated the crime he had committed, and bragged that he would not talk to any police officer but admitted killing her mother.

“Chairman, this is the situation, I have killed her please help me out and let’s settle this here. The object I killed her with is in the toilet,” Timothy said.

He narrated that he later told the police that the accused had confessed to him and when they went to the residence, the object which he used to kill his mother, was found at the location  he had placed it.

The accused is arraigned in court on one count of murder contrary to Law of Sierra Leone.

The State prosecution alleges that the accused killed his mother, Yealie Sesay, on the 11th February 2016 at their residence in Grafton.

State prosecution told the court that the accused on the said date rushed at his mother, held her mouth with one of his hands and repeatedly stabbed her with a baronet.

The state prosecution added that the accused after committing the offence left the deceased  on the floor bleeding.
