Director of sports, Ibrahim Bangura, has urged all sporting disciplines and authorities concerned to give equal opportunity to physically challenge and able bodies to participate and compete in various events.

The Director made the above call at the opening ceremony of the Kids Advocacy Network 10- day celebration of the International Day of Peace under the theme: ‘Together for peace; respect, safety and dignity for children and persons with disability.’

According to Bangura, the Sports ministry is fully committed towards peace and is always ready to using sports as a key tool to promote peace in the country.

“We are very proud to be part of this and thanks to the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support this activity. We are committed towards using sports to promote peace that is why we are also calling for equal opportunity to all, especially the disable to participate and compete in both local and international competition,” the Director of Sports said.

“Internationally, we have the Olympic and Paralympic Games which is a vivid example of participation for all so we must also follow such trend in the country.”

Bangura called on government to ensure safety of young people especially when the country is about to go into elections.
