Disappointed… Alhassan ‘Crespo’ Kamara    Photo: Bildbyrån

Sierra Leone and BK Häcken striker, Alhassan ‘Crespo’ Kamara, will finally undergo a surgery on his knee on Thursday, September 21, the Swedish club confirmed on their official website.

The striker, who was under rehabilitation for 6-8 weeks on his troublesome knee could not properly fit and prompted the club’s Physiotherapist, Patrik Ghazarian to recommend for an operation.

“The hope was that a rehabilitation of the 6-8 week knee would suffice to have “Crespo” back on the plan, but that will not be the case,”Ghazarian said and continued: “It has not been as good as we hoped for, so an operation will take place on Thursday.

“It is not unexpected that it will be so we have not wasted two months on rehab. There was an opportunity to get rid of the surgery, and then we tried to take it. Whether we had done the surgery in July or now, he could not have been with us this season.”

The former FC Kallon forward will be operated on Thursday in Stockholm by a doctor who is specialized in such types of injuries.

Kamara will now be out of Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars, away match against Ethiopia in March in the race for the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Prior to his injury, Kamara has scored five goals in twelve Swedish top-flight matches for Häcken.
