Swedish Allsvenskan club, AIK Solna, Wednesday confirmed that Sierra Leone and FC Kallon youngster Prince Barrie will undergo a-three-months trials with the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder, who will this month turn 18, is set to travel to Sweden to undergo test with a possible consideration of securing a deal with the Swedish outfit.

Confirming the youngster’s trial, sporting director Bjorn Wesström told Matchdax that the club may recruit the midfielder from FC Kallon and that he will undergo trial with them.

“He is one of Sierra Leone’s most outstanding players and a potential. He is a really exciting talent, the most exciting talent in Sierra Leone right now. He is a player who has long way to go,” Wesström told Matchdax.

Meanwhile, the player’s international agent, Patrick Mork has clarified why a deal could not be struck now for the midfielder if the trial is successful.

Mork said: “He will turn 18 in August. I think there would be nothing now with the club as the transfer window has closed.”

The Swedish agent further describes the Sierra Leonean prodigy as a Di Maria type of player, and admitted that he will spend more time on trial due to his lack of effective football in Sierra Leone because of the Ebola tragedy in the country.

“He will definitely have a longer run with AIK partly because football in Sierra Leone is less developed than in the example Ghana and he almost got one year ruined because of the Ebola tragedy so he needs a longer run,”  Mork said.
