Ghanaian tactician, Sellas Tetteh has resigned  his post as caretaker coach of Sierra Leone national team; Leone Stars after it was confirmed that Ghana Premier League side, Liberty Professionals has secured his service.

The Ghanaian Premier League side announced Tetteh’s appointment few weeks after the resignation of George Lamptey and his backroom staff.

Despite not disclosing the 58-year-old financial commitment, he is expected to take full control of the Professionals ahead of the new season that would commence early February, 2017.

The former Ghana U-20 World Cup winning coach was in August, 2015 appointed as Leone Stars caretaker boss after an agreement between the Sierra Leone and Ghana football associations was reached.

His appointment prompted authorities of  the Sierra Leone Football Association to put on hold the appointment of a permanent coach for the national team as they cited “delays in logistical procedures.”

Tetteh started his Leone Stars campaign against the reigning African Champions, Ivory Coast in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on 5 September in Nigeria-a match which ended in a goalless draw.

He was also in charge of the Stars Nations Cup clash against Sudan and the 2018 two-legged World Cup qualifiers, in which, Chad eliminated Sierra Leone on away goals.

In March 2016, the SLFA confirmed that the tactician, Sellas Tetteh, will continue his role as caretaker coach of the country’s senior national team after they extended his loan agreement until the end of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, in which Sierra Leone failed to qualify after finishing just a point behind Ivory Coast.

Ghanaian based online media; Ghana Soccernet reported that Sierra Leone owed the gaffer a-two-month salary which hampered his desire to sign a long term contract with the country’s football authorities.
