Six teams across the armed forces would battle in this year’s Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) six-day volleyball competition at the Hockey Pitch, Wilberforce Barracks
in Freetown.
The six teams- Force Admin (White), Force Troops (Yellow), Joint Unit (Red), 3 Infantry Brigade (Green), 4 Infantry Brigade (Orange) and 5 Infantry Brigade (Blue) will all engage in a tough contest from the 21st to 26th November, 2016.
According to Captain Yayah Brima, like all other sporting events, the competition would be organized to promote the good civil-military relationship.
He said: “This competition is organized to promote good civil-military relationship. For the RSLAF, it is designed to test the physical ability of the troops, identify talents for the RSLAF volleyball team and enhance interaction among the troops and foster troop cohesion.”
Meanwhile, the six teams have already been divided into two groups of three teams with the best two teams in each group to qualify for the semi-final, while winners from the semis will play the grand finale on Saturday November 26.
In a related development, Sixers, Solar Strikers and Young Stars volleyball clubs have all been invited to play several friendly matches alongside the competition.
