Adviser to President bags Long Time Achievement Award

 Henry Serray-Kamal, currently the Presidential Adviser for Renewable Energy, Science and Technology at State House has on October 21st,2016 received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Engineering Excellence at the Bintunmani Hotel.

He was given award by the Sierra Leone Council of Chief Executives. The award was presented to him by retired Major Alfred Palo Conteh, Minister of Internal Affairs, for his 30 years of significant academic and professional accomplishments in the field of Chemical Engineering both in the United States and Sierra Leone.

He attended school in Sierra Leone, where he attained up to sixth (6th) form and later proceeded to the United States to pursue his college education. He was enrolled at the George Washington University and Howard University respectively as a pre-medical student majoring in Chemistry. He Graduated in Cum Laude (3.5 vs. 4.0), obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1978.

Henry later graduated in Summa Cum (3.8 vs 4.0) with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the state University, Stoney Brook, New York, while he was at Brookhaen Laboratory, where he started his engineering career.

He was involved in the development of alternate energy sources for the U.S government.

In 1982, he decided to pursue a career in private industry and accepted a job offer with the Dupont Chemical Company in Richmond, Virginia. While he was at Dupont, he received several awards including the Quality Leadership Award, The Fiers Continuous Improvement Award and the Six Sigareen Belt Award. Henry retired from Dupont after 30 years of service and attained the level of Senior Research Engineer.
