Swedish Division 1 side, Nyköpings BIS has confirmed the contract extension of Sierra Leonean central-back Ishmael Koroma to another season.
The 20-year-old new contract would see him stay with the Division 1 side until the summer of 2017. The former Old Edwardians defender joined the Swedish club in 2014 at age 18 and since his move; he has played over 60 games for the club.
“Ishmael is only 20 years old and this shows you that the guy has a good potential to get to the next level and little wonder that not more clubs in the higher level are watching him,” the club’s acting Manager Patrik Berglin told the team’s official website.
“Ishmael has steadily developed a better and better grasp of what it means to play football on the basis of his potential and what it takes every day, week in and week out. I am pleased that we will continue to employ his services for the coming year and believe that he can be even better in most aspects. The combination of his athletic ability with sound passing game can be a great hallmark of Ishmael.”
The defender himself is happy for the renewal: “It’s a good club and I’m happy with my development since joining the club. My new contract is until 2017 but I can move if I have better offer.”
Nyköpings BIS, currently sits sixth in the standings with 22 points adrift from league leaders Brommapojkarna.
