Young Sierra Leonean swimmer, Ishmael Koroma aka Stone Cold is eyeing participation in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The youngster who was part of Sierra Leone’s delegation that participated in the Nanjing International Youth Sports and Cultural Week in China, said he was would work very hard to make it in not only the Commonwealth Games but other upcoming competitions.

“I wish to qualify and compete in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia,” Koroma said, while speaking on his experience at the Nanjing International Youth Sports and Cultural Week competition.

The tall and huge swimmer who broke his current personal best in the pool by five seconds after he swum 29.48 seconds well behind the standards required for sport’s greatest stage, stated that that he was  determined to put in the required work to make his dream a reality.

Interestingly, for the youngster, the competition in China was his first outside the African continent and his exposure had spurred him up towards making it to future international tournaments.

“It was great experience for me to compete in such an advance pool and I was able to identify some of the areas that I need to work on together with my coach. My focus now is to do more training and reduce my time before the2018 Commonwealth Games,” Kamara said.

Secretary General of Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association, Mohamed Turay spoke highly of the youngster as he expressed his optimism  that the lad would soon be a difficult nut to crack in the country.

He said: “Ishmael Koroma is such a great talent and he is a fast learner. He was introduced to the pool just last year December but he continues to make rapid improvement, he is one of the future swimmers in the country.”
