The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) media committee has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the observance of a minute silence in honour of the late Gibril Santigie Moseray Fadika before the commencement of the crunch AFCON clash between the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

The two nations will battle on 3rd September in Bouake. According to a statement from the SLFA media head, Abu Bakarr Kamara, SLFA received a letter from CAF on Wednesday afternoon which stated that it had approved a request made by SLFA President Madam Isha Johansen for the observance of “a minute silence in honour of a great patriot, friend, brother and football pioneer”.

“Madam Johansen made an emotional call to her colleague Sidy Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation and also to CAF immediately the late Moseray Fadika was pronounced dead.

It is expected that the Leone Stars will also carry black arm bands as part of the honour of the loss of a “great patriot” and philanthropist,” the statement reads.
