Police testifies in Le380m Vita Foam fraud

Detective Sergeant 6471 Dauda Koroma last Friday appeared at the Magistrates’  Court No.1 Freetown, before Magistrate Dr. Abou Bhakarr Binneh-Kamara as the second prosecution witness against one Frank Bioh, a Ghanaian, who allegedly attempted to withdraw the sum of Le380 million from a Vita Foam account at  Keystone Bank.

In his testimony, Detective Sergeant Koroma, who is attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, told the court that on 3 May, 2016 whiles on duty, the Chief Executive Officer of Vita Foam-Sierra Leone Company Limited arrested the accused at Keystone Bank and brought him to their office.

He said the complainant informed him that the accused made an attempt to withdraw the sum of Le380 million from the company’s account.

The witness explained that he interrogated and obtained statement from the complainant, as well as interrogated the accused, while he and one Detective Inspector Kargbo visited the Keystone Bank to obtain statement from the Manager, Ekenis Igunbor.

He said on 14 May, 2016 he charged the accused with the offence of attempting to commit a felony, contrary to law.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused on 3 May, 2016, with intent to defraud, attempted to withdraw the sum of Le380 million from a Vita Foam -Sierra Leone Company Limited account at the Keystone Bank in Freetown.

The matter continues on 24 August, 2016.
