Police attached to the Kambia Police Division and the Kambia youth council  have  discovered four motor bikes that were stolen from the office of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) in Kambia.

It could be recalled that some commercial motor bikes riders led by Ibrahim Sorie Madowa and Osman Yealie Sankoh on the 21st July, 2016, incited a group of riders to beat up a vehicle examiner and carted away four motor bikes from the office.

According to the Local Unit Commander of the Kambia Police Division, Supt. Francis Hazeley, the motor bikes were discovered by the Kambia youth chairman and his team a few days ago and were now in police custody.

“The Kambia youth mobilized themselves and went in search of the stolen motor bikes. They too are against the act perpetrated by the commercial motor bike riders on the officials of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority. They have been very active in ensuring that sanity returns to the township and have been helping the Police to discover the bikes,” he said.

He however said that the Police would not hand over the motor bikes to the officials of SLRSA until they obtain statement from the youth chairman and his team about where they saw them and at whose residence.

He disclosed that no suspect was yet to be identified but the Police were investigating the matter. He noted that the youth will have to tell them as to where they obtained the information that led to the discovery of stolen bikes.

“We are doing everything to ensure that the officials of SLRSA continue to deliver their duties unhindered because they are working in the interest of the government. We will help to create an enabling environment for the workers to register and license motor bikes and even vehicles that are unregistered and unlicensed,” he said.
