Dutch Eerste Divisie, the second tier league side in the Netherlands, FC Emmen has confirmed the loan signing of FC Utrecht teenager Issa Kallon.

The 20-year-old winger, who has a contract with FC Utrecht until 2018, joined the Drenthe based club on a season long loan.

Reacting to the move, Kallon, who was born in Holland by Sierra Leonean parents, said: “In Utrecht, I talked about my future, and indicated that I would prefer to play football in the Eredivisie.

When they first indicated that there was interest from Emmen, I’ve studied together with my agent to see the options and we were able to find out that in recent years several young players have reached the Premier League from them and we also talked with the club and the coach.”

“I think I have a good chance in Emmen to prove myself as a player and that feels good. Now I have seen and met most of the people. I cannot wait to play football at this lovely club and have a good season to finally return back in the Eredivisie. But for now I’m going to focus on Emmen.”

FC Utrecht Technical Manager, Erik ten Hag said: “It’s good for Issa and it was great we came to the conclusion that he has the best chance at this point in his career at FC Emmen, where he would take the right steps in his development.”

Kallon is a youth product from FC Utrecht who made his Eredivisie debut on 24 August 2014 in a 1-2 away win against Feyenoord.
