Dinamo Minsk defender Umaru Bangura has been given the green-light by the club’s medical team to start individual training as he continues his bid to recover from a knee injury.
The 28-year-old Sierra Leone skipper was forced to leave the pitch in Minsk’s 3-1 domestic league match defeat to Isloch on June 25 and has so far missed five matches, including the double legged UEFA Europa League clash against Spartaks Jūrmala of Latvia and the second round qualifiers against Scotland’s St. Patrick’s Athletics.
Bangura is well on his road to recovery; the club confirmed the news on their website, under the injury update news. “Roman Begunov and Umaru Bangura have already started training in the individual mode and operate under the supervision of medical staff twice a day. We hope for a speedy return of our defenders into the overall group,” says the update.
The former Haugesunds defender, who was ruled out for almost a month, will also miss Thursday’s third round Europa League qualifiers first leg tie against Serbian FK Vojvodina Novi Sad at the Stadion Karađorđe, Novi Sad, but could possibly be in line for the return leg on August 4.
Bangura, who is considered as one of the important players in the Minsk defence, has 13 appearances so far this season.
