With US$62 million funds from the African Development Bank(AfDB), OPEC Fund for International Development and the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Three Towns Water Project, the Sierra Leone Water Company(SALWACO)  over the weekend provided clean pipe borne water for residents in Bo and Kenema.

Chairman of SALWACO Board, Robin Falley, told residents of the two district headquarters townships  that metres would soon be installed, through which they would be connected and have access to the pipe borne water facility.

He said customers would be paying for the water that would be provided them in order to maintain sustainability and ensure they transform SALWACO into an efficiently functioning and financially viable institution that would not be dependent on donors.

He called on residents to put politics aside and embrace national development that would benefit them and their unborn children, adding that they should also  appreciate President Koroma for being ‘sensitive’ to their plights.

Director General of SALWACO, Samuel Bangura, gave an overview of the project and encouraged residents to own the facilities and protect them for the benefit of all.

Minister of Water Resources, Momodu Maligie, thanked the Government of Sierra Leone and development partners for providing the funds used to implement the project, while thanking the management of SALWACO and the contractors for a successful completion of the project.
