Police in Kambia are currently investigating one Alusine Sheriff Kamara, who is alleged to have printed and put into circulation fake Le10,000 notes at the Barmoi Luma (periodic market).

Local Unit Commander of the Kambia Police Division, Superintendent Francis Hazeley, has reportedly ordered a team of patrol officers, including the Operational Support Division commander in Kambia, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dumbuya, to go in search of the suspect.

According to a police source in Kambia , the suspect is currently on the run after police attempted but failed to arrest him.

The suspect was reported to the police last week Thursday by one Mohamed Kamara, after the former gave him fake Le10,000 notes amounting to Le1.5 million as payment for an undisclosed quantity of palm oil.

According to Mohamed Kamara, after the transaction, the suspect abruptly left the scene and did not wait for him to ascertain the amount of money.

“I detected during the counting process that the entire Le10,000 notes given to me were fake,” he said.
