Sierra Leone midfielder, Abdul Sesay aka ‘King Budski’, was at the rescue of Oulun Palloseura Jalkapallo (OPS) as they came from behind to defeat FC Jazz II 3-2 at home in the Finnish Kakkonen league.
Sesay’s 86 minutes handsomely long shot gave OPS the all three points as they maintain their lead at the top of the league table with 26 points from 12 matches.
The goal was Sesay’s seventh of the season as he continues to battle against Swede David Carlsson and Nigerian Adeniyi Michael Ibiyomi, who both have eight goals, in the race for the golden boot.
In the Finnish top tier division league, the Veikkausliiga, despite midfielder Mohamed Medo Kamara’s 75 minutes cameo for HJK Helsinki, they were unable to escape 1-0 defeat to ILves. Kamara was also booked in the 75th minutes for his sixth of the season.
Another Sierra Leonean on the losing end was Hassan Mila Sesay, whose FC Lahti suffered 1-2 home defeat to Rops. Sesay was withdrawn in the 82 minutes of play.
Elsewhere, striker Kei Kamara was left red faced after his goal was ruled out for a foul in New England Revolution’s goalless draw with Real Salt Lake at the Rio Tinto Stadium in the U.S. Major League Soccer.
The Sierra Leonean forward was almost at the corner flag celebrating before he heard the referee’s whistle for a foul he was adjudged to have committed before the shot.
Striker Alhaji Kamara, who is still searching for his second DC United goal, was introduced in 71st minute in United’s 1-1 draw with Columbus Crew, and in the North America Soccer League, Michael Lahoud’s Miami registered a 1-0 win over Jacksonville Armada.
In the Swedish first division, Ibrahim Marcel Koroma had full time action for Husqvarna but they suffered 0-2 defeat on home soil to Öster, while his countryman Ishmael Koroma’s Nyköping side secured a 2-0 win over Ume å.
Like his compatriot, Koroma also enjoyed full time run. Elsewhere, Ibrahim Kallay’s Pitea suffered a 2-1 defeat to Akropolis, and in Slovenia, Julius Wobay’s Olimpija secured 1-0 win over Celje in their league opener. Wobay, who was an unused sub, was one of three players rested for Wednesday’s Champions league qualifiers against Trenčín.
Kamara holds the country 50m freestyle national record of 27.39, a time he swum at the 5th African Zone II Swimming Championships in May 2016. He broke his previous record of 27.79 sec, a time he clocked at All African Games in Congo.
Bunturabie Jalloh, on the other hand, is the national record holder in the 50m breaststroke. She now clocks 40.12 sec in 50m freestyle 50m.
