According to Sky Italia and prominent Italian sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the defensive midfielder, who was loaned out to Napoli last summer for more first team experience, is the subject of an enquiry from Torino, despite his tricky time in Italy where he only made nine appearances for Napoli.

The 21-year-old, who is a product of the Chelsea academy, is expected to report for pre-season training with the English club at the start of next month’s build-up, but the Serie A side want to make a move for the youngster in the coming months.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether Torino wants the player to sign on a permanent contract or propose another loan move, but he still has two years left on his contract with the west London outfit.

Chalobah was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone; he went through the Chelsea academy, having been there since his pre-teens. During the 2010–11 seasons, he featured for Chelsea reserves while still a schoolboy, winning the national championship with the side that season.

In 2011–12, he regularly captained both Chelsea’s reserve and youth sides, and led them to win the 2012 FA Youth Cup. He signed a professional contract with Chelsea in January 2012 shortly after turning 17, lasting until summer 2014. But on 30 August 2013, Chalobah signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea, stating that he wishes to stay at Chelsea for his entire career.

Despite having featured for England U-19, 20 and U-21 squad, Chalobah is also eligible to play for his country of birth, Sierra Leone.
