June 10, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr. Zombo Morris reacts to club promotion in French Championnat National League

Sierra Leone international goalkeeper, Solomon Zombo Morris, has been reacting after his French club Quevilly Rouen Metro gained promotion to the French Championship National League.

The goalkeeper, who will be playing in the French third tier league next season, said he feels great and ready for the new challenge in the upper division.

“I feel delighted for such promotion and it goes down to hard work and team effort. We must now be ready for next season as we are in different competition and another level,” Morris said.

The shot-stopper was on international duty with the Sierra Leone national team Leone Stars against Sudan when his French club trashed Troyes AC 4-1 in the league’s final day of the season to seal promotion.

Going into last Saturday’s game, Quevilly knew that a win would seal promotion following their goalless draw against Iris Club de Croix and a 3-2 victory over CF Sannois and St-Gratien respectively, notching 92 points from 30 matches.

Morris started in goal for Sierra Leone in last’s weekend Africa Cup of Nations fifth round qualifier, defeating Sudan 1-0 in Freetown, but was later substituted due to injury. He won his 16th cap against Sudan and has made 11 appearances for the Le Petit-Quevilly based club which was founded in 1902.
