The Falcons of Jediane of Sudan will travel to Nairobi, Kenya, to face the Harambee Stars in a friendly match scheduled for 27 May at the Moi International Sports centre, Kasarani.
Friday’s friendly tie is part of the Falcons of Jediane’s preparation ahead of their 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) crucial qualifier against Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in Freetown on 4 June.
The Harambee Stars will also use the encounter as a dress rehearsal for their Group E, 5 June clash with Congo Brazzaville, which is also a crunch match for the two sides.
Already, the Sudanese team started effective training last Sunday after Coach Mohamed Abdullah Mazda announced his 22-man squad for the Sierra Leone game.
Coach Mazda’s squad is dominated by players from two giant Sudanese football clubs, Al Hilal and El Merriekh, with a total of 15 players called up between the two clubs.
Sudan defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 in Khartoum in the qualifiers opening match and would be looking to repeat similar fate in Freetown to increase their chance of qualifying for the 2017 tournament showpiece.
Sudan are in Group I of the qualifiers alongside Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Gabon and only the winner between the trio of Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Sudan will qualify from the group to join Gabon who have already qualified as host nation.
